Montreal, QB (January 25, 2010) – After an exciting weekend at the World Cup race in Lake Placid, NY, the Canadian Ski Cross team, in conjunction with Freestyle Canada, unveiled
the team that will represent Canada in it’s inaugural Olympic Games in Vancouver.
In just under a months time Ashleigh McIvor (Whistler, BC), Julia Murray (Whistler, BC), Kelsey Serwa (Kelowna, BC), Danielle
Poleschuk (Winnipeg, MN), Chris Del Bosco, Stanley Hayer (Kimberley, BC) and Dave Duncan (London, ONT living in Golden) will take their
place in the history books as they be come the first athletes to ever participate in the Olympic Winter Games in the discipline of Ski Cross.
In a nail biting selection process that resulted in a lot of talent, from all the freestyle disciplines, being left on the table, the Canadian Ski Cross team was able to secure 7 out of the possible
18 potential spots. “In an ideal situation,” said Dave Ellis, High Performance Director for Canadian Ski Cross, “we would have wanted to qualify 4 men and 4 women, but this is a Freestyle team
with an incredible amount of depth, we feel lucky to have secured the spots we did. In the future, we hope the IOC increase quota spots so that Canadian Freestyle can actually bring their strongest
team to the games.”
